POST-DOC OPEN CALL - H2020 TEHRIS Project
The referred position is for a post-doc fellowship under ATTRACT that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme.
Project Title: “TEHRIS: Tailored Metamaterials for Extremely High-Resolution Imaging and Sensing”
The candidate will exploit the optical properties of nano-scale metal/dielectric multi-layers called Hyperbolic Metamaterials (HMMs) to enable super-resolution imaging at selectable wavelengths in the VIS-NIR range.
We already demonstrated the capability of these systems to collimate monochromatic waves with unprecedented resolution of about 40 nm. The challenge of TEHRIS is to extend such a technology to the entire visible range.
The candidate will engineer new concept HMMs in which the super-collimation wavelengths can be freely selected according to the customer’s demand. This will lead to monochromatic “Perfect Lenses” working at the desired wavelength. Their straightforward and inexpensive fabrication processes make them easily embeddable in everyday electronics, point of care diagnostic devices, quantum information technology and nano-scale light sources.
